Explore Coc Ly Market on a Tuesday morning, where the tribes from the surrounding Bac Ha district gather to exchange goods, cattle, water buffalo, pigs, horses, spices vegetables and traditional medicines.
Get lost amidst the Flower Hmong, Black Zao, and Tay tribes as they go about their day. Dressed in their traditional costumes, there is an explosion of colours.
Smiling faces, the sounds of laughter and excited voices radiate throughout the market; locals go there not only to trade but also to socialise, it really is a hive of activity.
The market opens at 7.00 a.m and it is about a 1.5 hour drive from Sapa. Ordinarily you’ll leave Sapa at 7.30 a.m, enjoy the market for a couple of hours and then take a boat along the Chay River and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Return to Sapa in the early afternoon.
